A key character in propelling the gritty “WYOmericana” roots songwriter scene in Wyoming, Aaron Davis (vocals, acoustic/electric/resonator/lap steel guitars, banjo, harmonica) is a Wyoming-based/Kentucky native, chiefly known as co-founder of national touring act Screen Door Porch as studio engineer-producer-session player at his Three Hearted Recording Studio in Hoback, Wyoming. Aaron’s eclectic creative energy is realized with the phenomenal instrumentalists of The Mystery Machine—drummer/percussionist Liam O’Neill with 3-part harmony sung by bassist David Bundy and piano/organ/synth man Mike Patton. The quartet combines for “The Band vibe going throughout” (Wyoming Public Radio) with a dynamic stage show equally versed in electric improvisations and acoustic intricacies, working the lesser-worn corners of the American musical fabric through an unconventional lens. Over a decade of touring the country and staying true to the write-and-record troubadour lifestyle led others to describe Aaron as “truly phenomenal songwriter” (Americana UK) with "a searing slide guitar" (Country Weekly), “a combination that goes down like top-shelf bourbon” (Austin Chronicle), and “a particularly standout approach that mixes poetry, groove and roughness” (Lonestar Time). It’s a rootsy celebration of mountain and river-inspired alt-country, groovy slide blues, story folk, gypsy grass, and funky roots rock. Recognizing Aaron’s ten-album discography, he was one of two songwriters in Wyoming to receive a merit-based Songwriting Fellowship award from the National Endowment for the Arts. He’s been fortunate to share bills with many of his heroes including Wilco, Willie Nelson, Jason Isbell, Buddy Guy, Sam Bush, Brian Wilson, Steve Earle, and James McMurtry.
