One Ton Pig- CD RELEASE

Date: Tuesday, July 11 2023

Bluegrass Tuesday

Time: 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM

On Tuesday, July 11, the original, progressive bluegrass band One Ton Pig will officially release its sixth album Times Will Bring Us Back. The band will celebrate with a performance that night at the Silver Dollar Bar beginning at 7:30 PM, where they have served as the house band for over 16 years. They will be performing all 10 songs from the record, will have a meet and greet during set break, and will have signed copies of the CD available for purchase. Admission is free.

The album was recorded “live” in the studio, in Rafter J, during the month of January 2023, and features original tunes from songwriters Michael Batdorf, Justin Smith and Tim Farris. Batdorf recorded and mixed the album and studio ace Chris Henderson mastered it. Local artist Katy Ann Fox painted the album cover, which depicts couples dancing in a clock-like circle, teasing the concept of time. Batdorf explains, “This album really pays homage to our ability to share space together once again. We are grateful to be able to gather, celebrate, make music and dance – times have brought us back. That is the vibe that ties this album together.”

The record showcases a great diversity of themes: fatherhood, marriage, gentrification, political alienation, being “broke in a small town,” a sea shanty and an instrumental called “Divoc 91." Though wide ranging in song topics, the common thread of the album is danceability. Because One Ton Pig has effectively become a dance band, the group can’t help but inject their signature dance hook into each of the tunes. Drummer Jason Baggett says, “at our Tuesday night gig we have people on the dance floor doing inverted flips… they almost hit the ceiling!”

Since 2006, One Ton Pig has performed nearly every Tuesday night, year-round, at the Silver Dollar Bar, inside the historic Wort Hotel in downtown Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Dancers and revelers from all over the world continue to enjoy this ongoing Tuesday night tradition. The six-piece band includes Michael Batdorf (guitar/vocals), Justin Smith (guitar/vocals), Tim Farris (mandolin/vocals), Matt Herron (fiddle/vocals), Marty Camino (bass/vocals), and Jason Baggett (drums)
