The Wort Hotel is thrilled to announce that its ownership, the Baxter Family, has been recognized with the Legendary Family Historic Hoteliers of the Year Award from Historic Hotels of America®.

This prestigious national award honors multi-generational family ownership that demonstrates exceptional stewardship, a long-standing commitment to historic preservation, and a legacy of excellence in hospitality.

“The Baxter family is truly honored to receive the Legendary Family Award. It’s a testament to my dad’s vision, Jim Waldrop’s leadership, and our Wort team’s execution over more than 20 years. Thanks to the Historic Hotels of America for the inspiration to continue our stewardship of such a special historic hotel,” said John Baxter.

Since opening in 1941, The Wort Hotel has stood as a cornerstone of Jackson Hole’s community and a proud symbol of Western hospitality. Under the Baxter Family’s ownership, The Wort has continued to preserve its rich heritage while evolving as one of the most beloved destinations in Wyoming.

Today, The Wort remains dedicated to honoring its history and to providing guests with an authentic Jackson Hole experience that celebrates both its past and future.
